About Us

My name is San and I thank you for your interest in Citrine Queen Art.  I hope my journey resonates with you.

The name for my company is inspired by my favorite crystal Citrine. I chose the name Citrine because I try to embody the prosperities it is believed to represent such as optimism, joy and endurance.  I added the name Queen to remind myself the importance of self love, self worth and self care.

Prior to my 50th birthday, it never occurred to me that I could be an artist and that I had a creative aptitude. I grew up in a restrictive household where personal expression was not encouraged and these values remained deeply ingrained after I married and left my childhood home.

The start of my healing journey, was a moment of crisis, when instead of driving to work, I walked into my doctor's office crying hysterically and not even knowing why.  For decades, I had been working a 70-hour week in a high stress environment and the work-related pressure had finally caught up with me. A job that I once loved had become an unbearable anchor and I felt stuck. I felt that I was missing out on life which included being a mom to two amazing boys, and a wife to a loving supportive husband.

It took some time, but thankfully, I was able to change my day job to a position that provided better work/life balance.  Changing my job was the first step towards healing, however I knew that I needed more.

My healing journey began with a simple commitment –to practice daily gratitude and go for a daily walk to get some exercise, fresh air  and a change of scenery. I started walking near my home and this evolved to walking to different parks and local trails.  Walking through the nature trails spoke to me in a way that it never had in the past. The sounds of birds chirping, a babbling stream, and the leaves rustling in the breeze were calming, helped me feel grounded and connected to Mother Earth. Most of all, I loved the colorful wild flowers – they called to me.

I wanted to share the beauty and serenity I discovered so I started talking about my healing journey on social media, and wrote some journals on gratitude, but I still knew something was missing.  I started drying and preserving flowers and leaves as a hobby, but I didn’t know what to do with them.  After a while, I discovered resin and Citrine Queen Art was born.

My mission at Citrine Queen Art is to spread joy by sharing nature’s timeless beauty in new and interesting ways.
